How we thought about Beta 2020

5

Five daily stacks

Mondays were for strategy and business. Tuesdays for prototyping and product. Wednesdays were about audience and community. Thursdays were operations and workflows. Fridays? Media careers.

2

Two daily sessions

Our community is spread out all over the world, so we wanted Beta to work across timezones. We did one session in the afternoon for Asia, and one in the late evening so we could be as inclusive as possible.

1

One ticket donation

US$5 meant you could join as many sessions as you liked — with the same link.

Missed them all? Watch the recordings. So simple.

“Now dry your tears, stop repeating that 20-year-old, self-fulfilling prophecy of media as a dying industry and come celebrate the future of journalism in Asia. Here is why we at KAS love Splice Beta: It glows in the dark.”

Pink noise

We have a podcast. It’s called Splice Pink. Obviously.

Be kind. Be learning. Be online. Be Beta.

The community of media needs an optimistic, forward-looking embrace of media trends. We’re nurturing a relaxed, honest space that is accessible and gender-balanced so we can all share and learn. We’re facilitating connections between people, the sharing of knowledge, and a celebration of what media is and can be. And it’s so much fun.

“Beta is all about the power of media entrepreneurs in Asia. IMS is excited to help bring this community together.”

Lars Bestle

Head of Department for Asia,
International Media Support
